These long, dried seaweeds are a traditional ingredient in Korean marine cuisine. Miyeok seaweed (also known as wakame seaweed) plays an essential role in preparing Miyeok Guk seaweed soup, a soup typically enjoyed on birthdays, as well as in preparing Miyeok Muchim, a seaweed salad.
These dried seaweeds, which boast a beautiful dark green hue, emit a pronounced marine aroma. Once rehydrated, they offer a tender and velvety texture.
According to phonetic transcriptions, this variety of seaweed is also called Miyuk in some recipes.
Usage tips:
Start by rehydrating 20g of these seaweeds for 10 to 15 minutes in cold water. Drain.
For soup, it will obviously depend on the recipes, but allow at least a good twenty minutes for cooking in a broth.
For salad, chop the rehydrated seaweed and mix it with garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds, for a simple, marine composition!
Storage:
After opening the package, I recommend storing the seaweed in a closed, dry container.
